Vestas receives large order in Sweden

Randers, 1 April 2008 Vestas has received an order for a total of 95.4 MW for Sweden. The order for the Havsnäs project consists of 45 units of the V90-2.0 MW turbine and three units of the V90-1.8 MW wind turbine. The contract includes supply, installation, commissioning, a VestasOnlineTM Business SCADA solution as well as a five-year service contract.

The order has been placed by RES Skandinavien AB, a wholly owned subsidiary of Renewable Energy Systems Limited (RES), which is a leading international wind farm developer, contractor and owner. The owners of the project will be HgCapital - a British investor in renewable energy - and RES Skandinavien AB.

“We are very pleased with the order from RES Skandinavien AB, and we look forward to working together with RES in continuing strengthening our position in the growing Swedish market,” says Klaus Steen Mortensen, President of Vestas Northern Europe AB.

The Havsnäs project will be located in the community of Strömsund in the Jämtland region in Sweden. The Havsnäs project is the largest onshore project ever contracted in Sweden and the project is strategically important for the development of the Swedish wind energy market.

Delivery of the wind turbines is scheduled for the summer of 2009, and commissioning is expected during the winter of 2009/2010.

Mike O'Neill, Commercial Director of RES, commented: “We are pleased to have selected Vestas for supply of the turbines for what will be Sweden's largest onshore wind farm and a significant project for the RES Group. This continues the strong relationship we have established with Vestas on our projects in Sweden and around the world, and we look forward to the start of construction.”

The above order does not affect Vestas' expectations for 2008, cf. Company announcement No. 13/2008 of 27 February 2008.
