Groundbreaking ceremony for 500 MW wind farm in Egypt

An international consortium consisting of Orascom Construction (Egypt), ENGIE (France) and Toyota Tsusho Corporation/Eurus Energy (Japan) will work together to build a new 500 MW wind farm in Ras Ghareb, Egypt.

When fully operational, the wind farm will provide clean electricity to more than 800,000 Egyptian households. The project will also help accelerate Egypt's transition to renewable power generation and will reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 1,000.000 tons per year.

This new wind farm project builds on the consortium's previous success in developing the first Egyptian project of its kind, which was completed ahead of schedule in October 2019, Orascom Construction announced.

Orascom Construction has made a name for itself in recent years as a leading player in energy and renewable energy in the Middle East and Africa, and currently has completed or under construction projects with a capacity of 30 GW.
