UK - 'Ireland can be world leader in renewable energy'
Energy Minister Eamon Ryan says the island of Ireland has the potential to become a world leader in renewable energy.
Mr Ryan was speaking at the publication of a report that says Ireland could generate 42% of its energy needs from renewable sources by 2020.
This would surpass the Government's current targets and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by a quarter. The study cautions, however, that huge sums of money would need to be invested in order to bring this about.
