Octopus invests in British and German wind farm
ORIT acquired a 7.75% stake in the UK offshore wind farm Lincs from a fund managed by Macquarie Asset Management, doubling its stake in the wind farm.
Lincs is located off the east coast of England and has been in operation since 2013. The wind farm has an installed capacity of 270 MW, consisting of 75 turbines of 3.6 MW each, spread over an area of approximately 35 square kilometers. Lincs is operated and managed by Ørsted.
In addition, ORIT acquired the Leeskow onshore wind farm from German developer UKA. Leeskow is a 34.6 MW wind farm in Brandenburg, Germany, and consists of seven Nordex N149 turbines, one of which was commissioned in August 2020, having received its permit earlier than the other six, which were commissioned only in August and September this year.
Commenting on the transactions, Phil Austin, Chairman of Octopus Renewables Infrastructure Trust plc, said: "Wind energy is a vital pillar of both the UK and the EU's energy systems. Today's investment in the Lincs Offshore Wind Farm takes ORIT's position in this significant operational offshore wind farm asset to 15.5% and our commitment to Leeskow marks our first investment into German onshore wind."
