Polish offshore wind industry takes next step

The two planned offshore wind farms off the Polish coast will have a total installed capacity of 1,440 MW. Under the announced agreement, Siemens Gamesa will supply its largest offshore wind turbine, the SG 14-236 DD, to achieve the maximum combined capacity of the two projects. The turbine has a rated capacity of 14 MW and can reach up to 15 MW with Power Boost. The exact number of turbines will be determined at a later stage of the development, once the final turbine supply contract and service and warranty agreements have been finalised.

The two wind farms, located north of the northernmost point of the Polish mainland, are expected to provide clean energy for two million Polish households with the help of SG 14-236 DD. Both 720 MW agreements are still subject to the usual conditions, including the final investment decision and the necessary permits, which are scheduled for 2024. The first electricity deliveries are expected in 2027.
