GWEC: Wind power industry to install 71.3 GW in 2020, showing resilience during COVID-19 crisis
Wind power will continue to show record growth over the next five years despite the impacts of the COVID-19 crisis, and will make a crucial contribution to economic recovery.
According to the latest market outlook published by GWEC Market Intelligence, 71.3 GW of wind power capacity is expected to be installed in 2020 despite the impacts of COVID-19, which is only a 6 per cent decrease from pre-COVID forecasts in Q1 2020. The forecast for offshore wind installations in 2020 has been increased by 5 per cent from pre-COVID forecasts to 6.5 GW, led by the installation rush in China.
