Italy - Vestas receives order for 34 units of the V52-850 kW wind turbine for Italy

Vestas Italia has received an order for 34 units of the V52-850 kW wind turbine for the Monte della Difesa project, located near Salerno, in the region of Campania, in Southern Italy. The contract includes delivery, installation, commissioning, VestasOnline™ Business SCADA system as well as a service & availability agreement for 5 years.

The order has been placed by AceaElectrabel Produzione SpA, a company belonging to the AceaElectrabel Group. AceaElectrabel is a high ranking utility which is very active in the Italian energy market and which was set up through a joint venture between the Italian ACEA S.p.A. and the Belgian Electrabel SA.

Rainer Karan, General Manager of Vestas Italia declares: “We are very satisfied with this order, which confirms the competitiveness of the V52 turbine, with its high efficiency and proven versatility for all types of wind conditions.” – “By December 2006, Vestas had installed almost 1,900 units of the V52 all over the world. Delivery is scheduled to start in October 2007, and the project will be completed during the first half of 2008.

The wind power plant has an estimated annual production capacity of 70.500 MWh, which corresponds to an annual emission saving of 38.493 tons of CO2. When completed, the wind power plant will be able to satisfy the energy needs of approximately 30,000 Italian households.
