Wind Industry Profile of
Major Order for Nordex from Scandinavia
The Nordex Group is supplying and installing 72 N149/5.X turbines for a German investor at the Oyfjellet wind farm. The turbines are to be installed in autumn 2021. A service contract for 20 years of full maintenance is attached.
The Øyfjellet wind farm was developed by Eolus Vind, one of the largest wind power project developers in Scandinavia, and is being built near the town of Mosjøen in the municipality of Vefsn. The 5 MW turbines of the Delta4000 series will be equipped with the Nordex anti-icing system, as the strong wind site is also characterized by a very cold climate. The area with sparse vegetation is located at mountain heights of 600 - 800 meters above sea level.
The green electricity will be used to supply an aluminium production facility in nearby Mosjøen, whose operator Alcoa Norway has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) for 15 years.
"We are looking forward to working with Nordex on the construction and operation of one of the most interesting wind power projects in Europe. Nordex's flexible technology and its experience with demanding Nordic climatic conditions were key success factors in our evaluation of the best solution for our 400 MW project. Together with Nordex and the investor, we will provide local industry and communities with renewable electricity for decades to come," says Per Witalisson, CEO of Eolus.
