Vestas has received yet another order from the booming wind energy market in Jordan. The order is placed by Abour Energy Company PSC, the Jordanian SPV owned by Saudi Arabia’s Xenel Industries and Dubai based Amea Power Limited, and includes the supply, transport, installation and commissioning of 15 V136-3.45 MW turbines.

The turbine manufacturer premiered the local market in 1996 and is still market leader with a 55 percent of the country’s total wind capacity. Jordan has the ambitious target to reach 1.6 GW wind energy capacity installed by 2020. This project marks Vestas’ fifth EPC contract in Jordan in the past five years, totalling 355 MW of installed or under construction capacity.

Emran Alireza, Chairman of Abour Energy Company, states “Xenel and AMEA are proud to conclude the 52 MW wind farm in Tafileh region of Jordan with Vestas as the engineering, procurement and construction contractor. Abour appreciates Vestas’ support during the development phase of this Project and look forward to working with them during the construction and operation of the wind farm.”

Rainer Karan, General Manager of Vestas Mediterranean Eastern Cluster, highlights “Our local experience and extensive project expertise has been key in securing this auction win and it underlines our capability to work with our customers to tailor the right solution for each site. We are proud to work with Abour Energy and contribute to the country’s transition to renewable energy”.

Furthermore, Vestas has received an order for a 252 MW Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) project in India which is the largest order to date in India and placed by Vivid Solaire Energy Pvt. Ltd., a subsidiary of Engie.

The project will be located in Thattaparai in Tuticorin district in the Tamil Nadu state and includes delivery, installation and commissioning of 126 V120-2.0 MW turbines, as well as the project’s civil and electrical work. The turbines will be serviced by Vestas under a 10-year full scope Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement as well as a Vestas Online® Business SCADA solution.

“This project is particularly significant for us because it brings ENGIE’s renewable energy generation capacities in India to 1 GW, a major milestone that proves our commitment, both to India and to the development of low-carbon energy sources. We have a long history of working with Vestas in multiple geographies, and remain confident that Vestas will be a strong, reliable and value-additive partner in our journey towards achieving our renewables ambitions in India”, said Malcolm Wrigley, Country Manager, Engie India.
