Denmark: Energinet.dk chooses Nexans HV cables
Energinet.dk, the Danish Transmission System Operator (TSO), has signed a framework agreement with Nexans for the delivery of around 500 km of high voltage (HV) cables. The cables will be used for a series of 170 kV projects from 2017 to reinforce the grid and meet the growing demand for energy in the region.
The contract, worth more than €20 million, will see Nexans supply and install cables with a cross section of between 800 and 2000 mm2. The cables will have a solid aluminium conductor and an aluminium wire screen. Energinet.dk will use the cables all over Denmark in different future cabling projects.
Ralf-Michael Menger, Sales Manager Land High Voltage, said, “We are excited to be continuing our strong relationship with Energinet.dk. We are proud to be contributing to energy security while improving the environment.”
Nexans and Energinet.dk have collaborated on many projects. In 2015, Nexans supplied cables to Energinet.dk’s projects Jylland-Fyn and, Storstrømmen, and the two companies also collaborated on the Køge Bugt project.
The first project description is expected by Summer 2016 for delivery in 2017. Nexans will manufacture the cables at its plant in Hanover, Germany.
