DNV GL issues first Rotor Nacelle Assembly Certificate for MHI Vestas in new DNV GL certificate layout
The turbine has undergone and passed all thorough evaluations by DNV GL Renewables Certification. Despite the challenging timeline, DNV GL completed the work according to the planned time schedule and to full satisfaction of MHI Vestas. The awarding of the certification for the V164-8.0 MW validates a record test and verification process which included testing of the blade and blade bearing on the Isle of Wight, UK, the drive train (gearbox, generator, main bearing) in Aarhus and the prototype in Oesterild, Denmark.
The certification of the V164-8.0 MW turbine also premiered the newly designed DNV GL certificate, which succeeds the formerly branded renewables certificates from DNV KEMA and GL. A prominent element of the new certificate is the seal, which is used as a watermark. The funnel-shaped graphic embodies the idea that DNV GL always takes a broader view, and that DNV GL narrows its perspective by looking into the details when approving/certifying products, equipment or documents. In addition, a ‘check-mark’ symbol is embedded, combined with an outer closed ring, which includes DNV GL’s Purpose statement and reference to the oldest heritage of the company, founded in 1864.
