Wind Industry Profile of

HBM successful with FBG technology at WindEnergy 2014

HBM Test and Measurement (HBM) successfully presents its new Optical Measurement products at the international WindEnergy 2014 exhibition.

With its booth conveniently located near the entrance of Hall 1, HBM has been able to attract a large number of qualified visitors from Germany and abroad. HBM's Optical Measurement technology that is based on fiber Bragg gratings (FBG) has generated a great deal of interest. This technology comprises optical strain gauges (SG) and interrogators, i.e. data acquisition systems with suitable software.

HBM has expanded its position in this field through the acquisition of Portuguese FBG specialist FiberSensing, underlining the importance of this topic. The advantages of the promising field of wind energy technology are described in an article published on windkraftkonstruktion.de recently.

HBM is confident that the expansion of its product portfolio will enable it to optimally support its wind energy customers' products with suitable technical solutions. HBM will exhibit further new products at various trade shows next year, e.g. the European Wind Energy Association's (EWEA) annual event in Paris as well as EWEA Offshore that takes place every two years in Copenhagen.
