Upcoming event to showcase a “wind vision” for the future

Did you know that a forthcoming report by the U.S. Department of Energy will show that wind is on track to supply 20 percent of the nation’s power by 2030?

On November 18-20, 2014 in San Diego, CA, you can get a sneak peek of this report by joining the AWEA Wind Energy Fall Symposium. This think tank style forum is designed to spark pivotal dialogue among industry leaders that inspires and fosters advancements. A combination of informative panels, networking sessions and prominent speakers providing breaking industry updates will round out this event.

Program highlights include:

  • A preview of the DOE’s forthcoming “Wind Vision” report by Jose Zayas, Director, Wind & Water Power Technologies Office, U.S. Department of Energy. This report will show how wind power is on track to provide 20 percent of the nation’s electricity needs by 2030, and can reach even higher levels after that.
  • A panel discussion of wind industry leaders from Vestas, Broadwind Energy, First Win, and Leeco Steel titled “A Conversation about our Future, ” which will cover how to meet the Wind Vision goals.
  • A second panel of wind industry leaders on “Reducing Costs to Compete in the Future Market,” which will give keen insights on market opportunities to reduce costs, featuring TradeWind Energy, AWEA, Pattern Energy Group, Vestas, DNV GL, Mortenson Construction, and UpWind Solutions, Inc.
  • newly launched “Emerging Leaders Program,” which will connect rising stars in wind energy with veteran decision-makers in order to build solid mentorship relationships in the industry.

As wind energy leaders unite to chart the path towards a renewable future, attendees can expect an enriching program with a broad spectrum of accomplished speakers including Dan Utech, Special Assistant to the President for Energy and Climate Change, who will be joining the Federal Policy Panel to discuss how the recent election results impact the industry.
