Germany - Alstom 6MW turbines listed in 348MW Baltic Sea project
Arcadis Ost 1 is to be built within a 30 square-metre site in the Baltic Sea, north-east of the island of Rügen, in water depths of 41-46 metres. Alstom's 6MW turbine has been slated for the project.
Approval has been granted by the German state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern’s energy ministry, allowing the installation of 58 turbines and an offshore transformer station, as well as up to three additional test turbines.
The wind farm will be connected to the onshore grid via an AC cable that will feed into transmission system operator 50Hertz’s Lüdershagen transformer station.
Alstom 6MW Haliade 150 turbines are listed in the project design submitted to authorities, although this does not bind the project developer to installing the turbine model.
Until 2006, Arcadis Ost 1 was known as the Ventotec Ost 1 project. Project developer Arcadis Deutschland sold an initial 50% stake in the project in 2008 to WV Energie, a conglomerate of German municipal energy utilities.
Since then, it has sold the remaining 50%, which is now shared by Nordex (just under 39%) and the enterprise arm of the Austrian city of Innsbruck (11.1%).
