INNOVATION installation ship baptised and loaded in Bremerhaven
With a length of 147.5 metres, a width of 42 metres, towering jack-up legs and the mighty, onboard crane capable of lifting 1,500 tonnes, the INNOVATION is a true colossus and the world’s largest ever installation ship for offshore wind power plants. It was baptised and inaugurated in Bremerhaven on 3 September, before which its own crane was used to load it with nine large fastening poles from a river barge at BLG’s offshore terminal. Following the baptism, the ship was loaded with two 60-m-high, 900-tonne, three-legged foundation structures known as tripods, intended for the “Global Tech I” offshore wind park 180 kilometres off Bremerhaven in the North Sea. The site gets 80 wind turbines.
