Acciona Completes First AW-3000 Wind Turbine For North America
Acciona has finished assembling its first AW-3000 wind turbine for use in the North American market.
The wind farm will utilize two different tower technologies, which are both suitable for the AW-3000.
One tower will be constructed to a height of 92 meters, using steel, while the other tower will use a concrete solution and will reach a height of 100 meters.
That tower also will be Acciona’s first concrete tower technology utilized in North America.
Construction of the wind farm is expected to be complete by the end of this year. The project has a long-term power purchase agreement with Central Iowa Power Cooperative and is supported, in part, by a grant from the Iowa Power Fund.
