UK - Renewable Energy Generation buys Vestas wind turbines for wind farm
Wind energy in UK: Vestas' wind turbines order. The wind farm is anticipated to produce approximately 12.5GWh of output per annum. The wind power project cost of Orchard End is expected to total around £5.5m.
The wind turbines are scheduled for delivery in early 2013 and the project is expected to be operational in the first quarter of 2013. Andrew Whalley, REG Chief Executive Officer, said: "Orchard End has an excellent wind resource and will provide many years of sustainable energy for the local area. Additionally, REG, in common with its other wind projects, has provided a community scheme which will provide significant benefits to local causes over the life of the wind farm."
Renewable Energy Generation Ltd (REG) is a UK renewable energy group. Its main business is the development, construction and operation of wind farms and generating power from refined used cooking oil.
REG Windpower: based in Truro and Bath, UK, it currently operates ten wind projects in Cambridgeshire, Cornwall, County Durham, Yorkshire, Cumbria and Gwynedd, with a total capacity of 41.15MW and has a development pipeline of over 1,000MW.
